The Cork Motor Club is also delighted to announce that we have secured an entry from recent Swansea Bay Rally winner Sara Williams. Sara a native of Wales was introduced to the Cork Forest Rally team at the Willie Loughman Carrick Forest Rally back in March of this year. Since then Sara and the team have kept in constant contact and having heard nothing but top reports about the Jim Walsh Cork Forest Rally, Sara confirmed an entry even before regulations were available. Sara will no doubt add her own style and proven ability to an already impressive line-up in her Subaru Impreza N12b.

British Womens Racing Drivers Club -  Louise Aitken-Walker Trophy

We went to Silverstone Race Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix on Saturday 3rd March to pick up the Louise Aitken-Walker Award for top placed rally driver in the British Womens Racing Driver Club (BWRDC). Not only did  I pick up the fantastic award, but i was also presented it by Louise Aitken-Walker herself!
Louise is a really hero of mine. She’s an inspiration to my rally driving and proof of what can be achieved by a woman at the top level of a very male dominated sport.
A massive congratulations to the BWDRC club – 50th Anniversary this year

Sutton and Cheam Motor Club annual awards dinner
Sutton and Cheam MC awards

I was delighted to learn that I had been honoured with the award for Competitor of the Year for 2010. We travelled up to the awards dinner at Puttenham Golf Club near Guildford on 29th January to receive the trophy and meet many of the other club members. It is a double honour, really, as it is the first time in its distinguished history that the award has gone to a recipient from Wales.

Seen with me in the photo are Membership Secretary, Barry Guess and Club Chairman Ian Brooks.

My thanks go to the members of Sutton and Cheam MC who were responsible in voting for me as their winner.

GMF Wyedean Rally Press Day
GMF Wyedean Rally Press Day

The sponsors of the Wyedean Rally, Team GMF, a division of the Klarius Group
held a Press Day at Chepstow Racecourse on January 28th. I had been invited as
a result of being sponsored by Klarius for this rally and the car was looking very clean and tidy in it's new Klarius livery! Also, it was a great opportunity to get some mileage in the car following the long lay-off since Wales Rally GB.

I had the chance to meet Annette Forster who is Group Marketing Director
of Klarius so it was great talking to her. The Press Day is a excellent idea to get people involved in the sport and give others the rare chance to have a ride in a competitive car. Overall it was a great experience and we are now looking
forward to the Wyedean Rally on 12th February!! See you there...

2011 John Easson Award

After entering for the award last year and coming 2nd, I decided to give it another go. So I sent in my portfolio and hoped to hear some good news back. The prize for this year is £4,000 entry fees and a lesson with Mark Higgins. I was very pleased to hear that I got into the final 3 and went up to Preston on Friday 5th November for the interview.

I was delighted to win this prestigious award and wish to say a big thank you to the John Easson Award scheme organisers, the 2300 club and the family of the late John Easson.

I am very honoured to be the chosen winner as this gives me the opportunity to enter some selected BRC rounds in 2011. It will be an honour, too, to carry the John Easson Award scheme decals on my car for the 2011 season.
My advice to all under 25 drivers is to enter this award next year as it is free to enter and a great award to have. It will give me a big boost in my 2011 season.
